Therapy
I am so ready to get back on track with therapies again. We have been at a standstill since the beginning of the summer. We were using therapists through a free state service here called infant Toddlers, but I have not been happy with the therapist we had. I have heard alot of great things about the program, so don't get me wrong, I am sure if you have the right therapist it is an awesome program to utilize. Unfortunately the one we got was not what I was looking for, so we will be trying Children's Mercy Physical and Occupational Therapy. I still need to make sure those therapies are covered under our Health Insurance plan otherwise we might get an unhappy surprise int he mail later! Anyhow, Jacob has his first session on the 29th so I am hoping for a big difference in therapy styles and some improvement in areas that have been slow going for a awhile now like eating and large motor skills

I'm so sorry you had such a bad experience with Infant Toddlers. I am praying that you have a much better experience with PT/OT at Children's Mercy. Good luck on the 29th!! Let me know if you want me to watch Aiden for you that day, Colby would love to play.
ReplyDeleteHave you been to the Lee Ann Britian Center? They are at Shawnee Mission Hospital. Also why didn't you request a different therapist? We just started Infant Toddler last week. But have been going to Lee Ann Britian for over a month. I enjoy going there bacause of the other parents. They have a scholarship program that goes off of your income
ReplyDeleteNo AJ, I had never even heard of it until recently, but I will check it out. Thanks for the tip! Infant Toddlers uses a family approach model that doesn't allow them to interact as much with the kids, bring in other toys, etc. They try to use the child's own environment to help them develop. I just didn't like that approach for Jacob, plus alot of new things were introduced in our first session at Children's Mercy that were never even mentioned in the 8 months we used Infant Toddlers. So, basically it just wasn't for us, but I know it is a great program for a lot of other kids!
